13 Storage Dilemmas, Solved

Running out of counter space? Are your closets overflowing? Here are 13 smart tips to help you eliminate storage problems that many homeowners face.

Cube Storage

Dilemma: Daily mail and magazines quickly pile up and clutter your kitchen.

Solution: There is only so much space on the refrigerator or walls to pin papers up. If you ran out of room a base message center cabinet can be the best way to keep your papers organized. This can also help fill empty cabinet ends to make them useful and appealing to the eye.

Dilemma: You have a bathroom with a pedestal sink or vanity with limited counter space.

Solution: Small bathrooms don't usually come with the adequate space to store all the grooming supplies. A way to turn unused space in the bathroom into something functional and captivating is by turning the area behind the toilet into shelving that can house these items.

Dilemma: You don't have the budget or space for a built-in mudroom, but need storage.

Solution: An inexpensive way to put an end to tripping over shoes in the mudroom is by buying or creating a cube organizer. This simple concept provides storage for everything from gloves and scarves to multiple pairs of shoes that the family owns.

Dilemma: You love to cook, but all the large spoons, spatulas and tongs overtake your kitchen counters and drawers.

Solution: If your drawers are over-flowing with all your cooking utensils it is time to make a specific area for them. A utensil rack is a helpful piece of hardware that offers a place to hang utensils and make room for other items within the cabinet drawers.

Dilemma: You don’t have a designated spot for your crafting and gift wrapping supplies and waste time searching your home for all the essentials.

Solution: An art room is a dream for many crafters, but it isn't always attainable depending on the space one has in their home. Using designated dressers, bins, or carts in one area of a room can help you save time and energy when your creative juices start flowing.

Dilemma: Bulky extra rolls of paper towels are taking up premium cabinet space.

Solution: Necessary items like paper towels need to be in easy to reach areas, but they can take up a lot of space. Use a stylish container or bin to store these kinds of items out in the open to give them a purpose and design touch.

Dilemma: You would love a walk-in pantry in your kitchen for storing dry goods, but don’t have the space.

Solution: Everyone wants to have a pantry in their kitchen, but not everyone has the means or room to obtain one. Adding tall slide-out pantry cabinets that are accessible from either side is great way to quickly and effectively gather food and other kitchen materials.

Dilemma: You need to create storage in an odd-shaped room or closet.

Solutions: Create usable and valuable space in your house by utilizing an odd room that once didn't have a purpose by installing storage and racks that can hold items that do not fit anywhere else in the home.

Dilemma: You don't have the room for a recycling center in your kitchen.

Solution: If you have a garage or spare room towards the entrance of your home use slim cabinets to hide and stack your recycling bins. This will keep them out of the way and in an easy to reach place to simplify your recycling habits.

Dilemma: Doing laundry feels like a constant chore, made worse because your laundry room lacks storage.

Solution: Laundry might seem like a never ending part of adult life, but it can seem a bit less like a chore by making it easier to do. Add storage like rods to hang dry clothing and wall-attached hampers to get yourself organized and efficient when tackling the mountains for clothes that need washing.

Dilemma: Lots of loose tools and gardening supplies are scattered throughout your garage.

Solution: Get those gardening supplies and tools off the counters and hanging up in the garage by using slat wall. This will be helpful when organizing your items and make them more assessable when they are needed.

Dilemma: You just can't fit one more sweater or pair of shoes in your bedroom closet.

Solution: There is always more room for your favorite sweater or pair of shoes, you just might have to get creative. Use underrated spaces in your house like under the bed to put slide-out bins to store these items.

Dilemma: You love entertaining on your deck, patio or porch but hate constantly running inside your house for supplies.

Solution: If you love outdoor parties and festivities, use this trick to help avoid making multiple trips in and out of the house. A way to do this is by using outdoor furniture that can store items such as plates, cups, napkins, etc. for every entertainment need.
